why is central park bad, or is it just shorthand for 'overused, try some different location'? Also, the dock was an interesting composition.

I don't agree that people thought their images were good... I would personally submit images that did not seem quite right but I couldn't put my finger on why. I don't want critique on an image that I really like and think is great. But maybe that is just me

I don't think it's about "reaally good ones", but kind of a middle-thing.. like some of the last ones, I think that's worth more than the most ones we saw.. hmm.. :)

Were NO really good photos submitted? Until these portraits, all the images have been surprisingly bad. Sorry. I just think I'd be way more selective about any image I submitted for critique.

I does look like some of the people are trying some rules of composition (like repeating patterns) but are paying so much attention to the patterns that they are missing the rest of the composition, and are jumbling the image too much

So many of today's photographers have only worked with digital and never learned the basic darkroom techniques that us old guys had to deal with. Basic cropping, dodging and burning were just "natural" things to do in the darkroom.
